Emily DuPre Lucas Burn Obituary

Emily is one of my old Mt. Pleasant friends and memories. We grew up in the old village of Mt. Pleasant closely connected in church and school and family. She was always a kind person to me and my sister, Beryl. Blessing on your Journey, Emily, and I hope to see you later on. Bless the family as they mourn.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

So sorry to see that Ms. Burn has passed away. She was such a lovely soul. She and Bobby were my neighbors on Ashley Ave. many years ago. My son who was a small boy at the time loved visiting with them. My condolences to Bobby and the family. Rest in peace Ms. Burn.

I have fond
memories that I will forever cherish in my heart of Emily. In that
way, she will never be gone to me. I thought I would share some of my

evenings that I spent at Emily and Bobby's house, laughing and
listening to stories over spray butter popcorn and

Emily was more than a neighbor to me. She was like family, like the
grandmother I never had. I fondly remember the many afternoons and
evenings that I spent at Emily and Bobby's house, laughing and
listening to stories over spray butter popcorn and Bobby's famous
squash casserole and baked salmon, all while Hopptie Do (our late
Chinese Pug) indulged in the cats' food. I'll forever cherish the
Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter celebrations we had at our home
with Emily and Bobby.

She and Bobby had tears in their eyes the day I left for The George
Washington University; they came over early to see me off. Emily
stayed in touch with me, despite our distance geographically, and
would ask about our family, including the elderly in-laws overseas,
Mr. Pickles, our nearly 21 pound rescue cat, and our
daughter. Emily loved cats, especially orange ones - they were her
favorite. She used to talk about OJ; one of her and Bobby's favorite
pets. Besides cats, Emily's next favorites were nails, hand soaps,
having hair styled, reading novels, Lucile's red rice and sausage, and
frogmore stew.

Emily never liked going out on the dock very far, and I had always
hoped that she would one day enjoy going out to the end of the dock,
taking in the splendor of a sunset on the water, where porpoises would
occasionally visit, and conquer any fears. She's now in heaven where
the grandest and most beautiful sunsets will never measure up to the
grandeur and beauty of heaven. She is with Jesus.

I will be unable to make the graveside service in person, but in
spirit, I will be there. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family
during this time. I hope Bobby will be okay through all of this and
please let him know that we are praying for him.

Tom and I send our heartfelt condolences for the loss of our former neighbor and friend. She was like family to us and especially daughter, Ashley
who was constantly at their home with our Pug, Hooptie Do. She will be missed. Amy Willis
