Condolence & Memory Journal

To the Alston family, our most sincere condolences in the loss of Reggie, not many days pass that I do not think of him, he was my very close friend from the late 1950s. I met him when he had his Auto Body & Paint shop on SPRUILL AVENUE in North Charleston. Reggie painted my first car, a 1950 Oldsmobile 88 with 10 coats of Black Lacquer, when he had it finished it was just beautiful, he then walked around it to make sure it was prefect with a paint gun in his hand shaking it with only Lacquer thinner in it to clean it & the canister fell off & splashed thinner over the whole left rear of the car washing all of the fresh paint off causing him to have to paint it all again. Reggie Alston was the most gracious person I have ever known, his slow thoughtful drawl & his ever present smile will forever be in my thoughts.
