Condolence & Memory Journal

I remember Pete Demos as a very personable and fun man and specifically as our first Cardiac Rehab participant at Roper Hospital in 1989. We had a great time back in those days and Pete stopped by often over the years. He was a legend to our staff and much appreciated.

I worked for Peter 30 years ago when he was at Mass Mutual. It was my first job out of college. I learned so much from him about business and life. His smile and his laugh were infectious. He looked for the good in a bad situation. My husband was in the Navy at the time and he and Sophia were so good to me. I remember going over for dinners when my husband was out to sea. I remember calling once at 11pm because I got word that my husband's sub had pulled into Florida. Before I could get the question out about work the next day, he said, go see him. Family was always important to him. Over the past 30 years, we spoke a handful of times on the phone. We stopped by to see him and Sophia once on our way through Charleston about 10 years ago. He has always held a special place in my heart. He was a great man and I was truly blessed to have known him.

I will greatly miss talking The Citadel athletic teams with Pete. He was a good man, a strong Citadel supporter and was always there when i needed some good advice. May his memory be eternal.

I am so sorry for your loss. Pete was a good man, very personable and honest -- he always had an opinion on something. I got to know Pete when I was a sports writer (right before the turn of the century) and covered Citadel games. Pete was always there with his quick wit and charm. When I went with Toula to the Greek church services I would run into him and we'd talk for awhile. It's unfortunate that we don't have men like Pete today. The world would be a better place.
