Mrs. Catherine "Kitty" Reynolds Cordray, 90, died December 24, 2020. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with Prayers of Farewell and Final Commendation in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, December 28, 2020 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 4:00 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Mrs. Catherine (Kitty) Reynolds Cordray, 90, daughter of the late Jesse Greene Reynolds Sr. and Evelyn Humbert Reynolds, was born November 13, 1930 in Charleston, SC. She graduated Memminger High School Class of 1949. Her class was the last all female class at Memminger.

She was united in holy matrimony to John Joseph (Joe) Cordray, Sr. on September 7th, 1961. This union was blessed with four children.

Mrs. Cordray was a Parishioner of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church. Before converting to Catholicism, Kitty was a Southern Baptist and attended Dorchester Waylyn Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Prior to becoming a member of Dorchester Waylyn, she was a member of Rutledge Avenue Baptist Church. She was active in the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) Wren Chapter until she retired. She received ABWA Woman of The Year, Wren Chapter in 1987. She worked for the Credit Bureau of Greater Charleston for 25 years. After leaving the Credit Bureau, she went on to open the Admitting Office of North Trident Hospital in 1975 and later opened the Admitting Office of the "Old New Baker Hospital". She left there for a job in admitting at Medical University of South Carolina where she retired from being a Patient Financial Counselor.

Kitty was well known for competitive roller skating in her younger days and taught skating at the old Meeting Street Rink and the Casino Rink. She was an extremely proud Charlestonian who enjoyed meeting her childhood friends for lunch and talking about how wonderful it was growing up downtown Charleston. She grew up on Vanderhorst Street and loved telling stories of how it was back then. Kitty was the epitome of a Southern Lady. She loved her family and friends dearly. She peacefully departed this life Thursday, December 24, 2020 at her home in North Charleston, South Carolina, surrounded by her children.

She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Michael Scott Cordray; husband, John Joseph "Joe" Cordray, Sr.; brothers, James (Jimmy) Robert Reynolds and William (Billy) Bennett Reynolds; parents, Jesse Greene Reynolds Sr & Evelyn Humbert Reynolds.

She is survived by her children; daughter, Karen Ruth Cordray, of North Charleston, SC, sons, Daniel Allen (Sonya) Cordray of Pensacola, FL and John Joseph "Joey" Cordray Jr., of North Charleston, SC and brother, Jesse Greene Reynolds, Jr., of Walterboro, SC.

Additional surviving family members include: nieces, Dona (Jim) Michaels of Coconut Beach, FL, Connie (Bill) Barbour of Charleston, SC, Beth (Dave) Morris of Charleston, SC, Helen (George) Dent of Wadamalaw Island, SC, Carol Cannon (Ralph Massenberg) of James Island, SC, Kathy (Todd) Baxley of James Island, SC, nephews, Butch Reynolds of San Antonio, TX, Steve Reynolds of TX, Jesse Greene (Dina) Reynolds, III, of Batesburg, SC; great nieces, Roxanne (Chris) Zomper of San Antonio, TX, Lacey Canida of Burleson, TX, Heather (Chris) Johnson of Charleston, SC, Ashley (Dustin) Corbin of Charleston, SC, great nephews, Joshua Beckman of Charleston, SC, Taylor Beckman of Charleston, SC, Wayne Dent of Johns Island, SC, Ken Cannon of James Island, SC, Bryant Stuart of Charleston, SC, Jesse Greene Reynolds, IV, Brandon Reynolds and Seth (Maci) Quesinberry all of Saluda, SC. In addition, she has several great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
