Cecil "Kirky" M. Kirkland, Jr., 62, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 28, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in Trinity United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m; his mother will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. There will be a gathering of friends on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Kirky was born July 5, 1956 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Lenora Tanner Kirkland and the late Cecil M. Kirkland, Sr. He was an Eagle Scout and a 1974 graduate of Middleton High School. Kirky attended Spartanburg Methodist College and the College of Charleston. He was the owner of Kirk-Co Wallcoverings, a stage hand with I.A.T.S.E., and a former bail bondsman. He was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees. He devoted many hours to working at Trinity as a volunteer.

Kirky was cheerful, outgoing, and generous with everyone he met. He was a great storyteller and self-proclaimed "Governor of West Ashley." Kirky never met a stranger.

He is survived by his mother of Charleston, SC; a brother, Stephen D. Kirkland (Pam) of Columbia, SC; a beloved girlfriend, Rhonda Steward of Charleston, SC; and many loving relatives and friends.

The family appreciates all of the support from Roper Five South Nursing Staff. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 273 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
