Charles August Weinheimer, Jr., 87, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Caroline Jones Weinheimer entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 20, 2017.

Charles was born December 1, 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Charles August Weinheimer and the late Ida Edwins Weinheimer. He graduated from Charleston High School, attended Clemson University and the College of Charleston where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. During the Korean conflict, he served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. During his time in the Air Force, Charlie completed his undergraduate degree at Trinity University. He served over 30 years as Trust Officer and Vice President with Citizens and Southern National Bank. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, sailboat racing and sailing local waters and offshore in his sailboat "Charlie's Angel" with his beloved wife and "first mate," Caroline. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and former member of St. Johannes Lutheran Church where he served on the Vestry and was Sunday School Superintendent. He was a former member of the Charleston Yacht Club, Sea Island Yacht Club, and the Cruising Club of Charleston where he was past Commodore. He was past Master of Landmark Lodge #76 A.F.M. and a member and past President of The German Friendly Society and the Arion Society. He enjoyed over 30 years as a member of the Exchange Club of Charleston.

Charlie will always be remembered by those who knew him as a consummate southern gentleman, a patriot, and a loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Caroline and his four children; Debbie W. King (Patrick), Charleston, SC; Christi W. Dudzik (Bob), Woodinville, WA; Dr. Charles A. Weinheimer, III (Julie), Mount Pleasant, SC and Lisa W. Murray (Charles), Aiken, SC; seven grandchildren; Robert Dudzik, Austin Weinheimer, Lane Weinheimer, Bess Weinheimer, Lawton Weinheimer, Logan Murray and Sterling Murray. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Weinheimer Hill.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2017 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL FROM, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road from 4:00 until 6:00 pm.

Funeral service will be private.
