Christopher Russell Sliker, known to friends and family as "Russell," passed away due to complications from a respiratory virus on January 22, 2018, at the age of twenty-four. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 3:00 p.m. Interment, Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

A Charleston native, Russell was born on October 12, 1993 to Joseph Russell Sliker and Melody Union Sliker of Johns Island, SC, the younger brother to Austin Joseph Sliker and sisters, Ansley Marie Sliker and Georgia Rhett Sliker. He is survived by his parents and siblings as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a nephew.

From an early age, Russell was energetic, quick to laugh, and had an irresistible smile. Russell cherished time spent with people he loved and often brought friends home to share fresh caught meals of crab and shrimp cooked by "Papa Joe" and "Big Mama Sliker".

He was proud of his parents and inherited his love of all things sports and outdoors from many quiet moments with his father, talking out on the dock or sitting next to him in his favorite chair. His gentle nature and strong faith were nurtured by his mother, who he referred to as his "living angel".

Russell grew into a charming and loving man, a beloved local socialite, wacky cousin, and proud son. Quick-witted and gregarious, Russell was easily lovable and quick to accept a new friend. Russell treasured the friends he made during his time at the College of Charleston, where he studied for a degree in Business. Russell was athletic, spunky, and his charisma was intoxicating. He had compassion and empathy towards others and would often help promote causes and movements through social media.

Our memories of Russell have him always smiling and insisting on a genuine goodbye hug. We will miss his bright presence but the laughter and kindness he shared in his short life will be forever in the memories of all who had the good fortune of being loved by him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Ronald McDonald House, 81 Gadsden Street, Charleston, SC 29401 or the MUSC Foundation/Hollings Cancer Center, 18 Bee Street, MSC450, Charleston, SC 29425. Gifts to MUSC will be designated to support the head and neck cancer program.
