Timothy Joel Austin, died February 22nd 2018, while serving his country in the United States Navy in Portsmouth VA. His funeral service will be held Friday, March 9, 2018, in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, at 11:00 am. Interment with military honors will follow at Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Stuhr Northwoods Chapel.

Joel was 21 when he left the earthly constraints of this physical realm and passed to his eternal home with his Father in heaven. Joel was originally from Charleston, South Carolina. In 2010 his family moved to Pigeon Forge, TN, where he graduated from Pigeon Forge High School and was on the swim team and ran cross country. Joel volunteered for service in the United States Navy in March of 2016. Joel completed basic training at Naval Station Great Lakes in Great Lakes, Illinois, completed corpsman training in San Antonio, TX and San Diego, CA, and Joel was serving his country at his duty station in Portsmouth, Virginia as a Hospital Corpsman with honors and commendations at the time of his death.

Joel had a heart for people and he volunteered in his community on many occasions. He lovingly donated his time to places and causes such as the Wears Valley Ranch (Children's Home) and Sevierville Women's Center. When the Navy stationed Joel in San Diego, CA, in his free time he would buy food and distribute it to the homeless. Joel was a soft spoken, kind and giving young man. Joel was a blessing to know and to spend time with. He brought joy and his giving spirit to all he encountered.

Timothy Joel Austin was preceded in death by his grandfathers Willis Austin and Robert DeWitt and uncle Michael Johnson, all of Charleston. He leaves behind his Parents Timothy Austin and Robin DeWitt Austin and his sister Noelle Faith Austin, all of Pigeon Forge, TN, his grandmothers Barbara Austin and Florence DeWitt, both of Charleston, SC, uncles Tony Austin (Lisa), Ted Austin, all of Charleston, and aunt Angela DeWitt Johnson, of Fernandina Beach, FL, many cousins and close friends.
