Edna Beach Orvin, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of John W. Orvin, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 13, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 in Bethel United Methodist Church, 57 Pitt Street, Charleston, SC at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street.

Edna was born July 29, 1923 in North Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Ira Gerome Beach and the late Edna Smith Beach. She was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church and later at Bethel United Methodist Church, holding many offices in both churches.
Edna served many organizations as either a President or Chairman. She was past president of the Greater Charleston Rotary Auxiliary, past president of the Council of Garden Clubs of Greater Charleston, past president of the Directors of Florence Crittenton, past president of the Charleston Christian Family Y, past president of the Garden Club of Charleston and executive member of the Garden Club of South Carolina. She was a member of the Board of Visitors for the Methodist Home in Orangeburg.

Edna was a member of the Charleston Chapter #56 of the Order Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Charleston Women's Club, Symphony League, Charleston Museum, and the National Trust of Historic Preservation. She was an exhibiting member of the Charleston Artist Guild and a past president. She was selected for the Hall of Fame and Woman of the Year by the Federation of Women's Clubs. Her hobbies were growing roses, flower arranging and painting.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Dr. Donna C. Orvin of Mt. Pleasant; three sons: J. Walton Orvin, Jr. (Marilyn) of Summerville, David B. Orvin (Caroline) of Charleston and Henry W. Orvin (Laura) of Newburyport, MA; seven grandchildren: Elizabeth Wuehrman, Sarah Claypool (Hart), Chris Orvin (Rafayna), Rhett Orvin, Mark Orvin (Sarah), Matthew Orvin and Gloria Orvin; and two great grandchildren: Alex Guydosh and James Claypool, III. Edna was predeceased by her son Mark George Orvin, two brothers Ira Beach, LaPrince Beach and sister Florence Beach.

The family wishes to thank Ebony and the staff at Savannah Grace for the loving care of their mother.
