Evelyn Juanita Gibbs Walker, 86, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Nolan Clint Walker, Jr. entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 1, 2022. A private family graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2021 in the Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road, at 11:00 am. The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel from 9:30 am until 10:30 am.
Evelyn was born October 5, 1935 in Hendersonville, North Carolina, daughter of the late Willie Eugene Gibbs and Oda Augusta Guice. She was 1953 graduate of Chicora High School and worked in vinyl record sales at Fox Music. Evelyn later worked for the Post & Courier for many years in the Circulation Department. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is survived by her brothers, Allison Eugene Gibbs, and William Eugene Gibbs; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Ann Walker Nelson; five nephews, George Bernard Nelson Jr. (Jenna), James Ernest Nelson (Judith), David Alan Nelson, Mark Logan Gibbs, and Patrick Eugene Gibbs; his niece, Gladys Allison Keniston (Tony); two great-nephews, James Bryson Nelson and Rhein Nelson; and three great nieces, Kathryn Leigh Nelson, Chrissie Keniston and Jessica Keniston.
