George Howard Shaver, 81, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Anne Benton Shaver entered into eternal rest Sunday, August 8, 2021. His Funeral Service will be held, Saturday, August 14th in Bethel United Methodist Church, 57 Pitt Street, Charleston at 12:30 pm, followed by a reception at the church. The family will receive friends Friday, August 13th at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mount Pleasant from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. The family asks that attendees to George's services please wear masks.

George was born June 6, 1940 in Bitner, Pennsylvania, son of the late George Harlan Shaver and Vergie Uphold Shaver. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. Then he spent 40 years with Navy Printing and Publications and retired as the Southeastern U.S., Europe, and Asia Area Director. George served on the South Carolina Federal Credit Union Board of Directors for 25 years. He was also an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Anne Shaver; his daughter, Ashley Cohen (Steven) of Daniel Island, SC; his son, Blake Shaver (Janet) of The Woodlands, TX; four grandchildren, Ansley Cohen, Harper Cohen, Anna Blake Shaver, and Samantha Shaver; his sisters, Gaye Shaver Taylor and Madeline Shaver Taylor, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and many nieces and nephews.
