Gloria Norris Smith Howard, 92, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Her graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022, in Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 3:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Gloria was born February 22, 1929 in Anderson, SC, daughter of the late Raymond C. Norris, Sr. and Rosa Roukoski Norris. She retired from Wells Fargo Bank and was a long-time member of Ashley River Baptist Church, where she dedicated many years of service to the children's Sunday School department.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Smith Knight (Roger) and Carol J. Smith, as well as stepdaughter Norma Howard Field (Chris); brother, John M. Norris; sister, Carolyn Norris Flint; grandchildren, Emily Knight Shier (Matthew), Jenna Leigh Heissenbuttle, Christopher J. Field, II (Jennah), and James D. Field, II (Hannah); great granddaughter, Katherine Avery Shier; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, I. Benjamin Smith and Avery L. Howard; sister, Alice Norris Banister; brothers, Raymond C. Norris, Jr., C. Rudolph Norris, and W. Donald Norris; and stepson, William A. Howard.

Memorial donations may be made in her honor to Ashley River Baptist Church.
