Grace Dantzler Bowen, age 94, who led a life well lived, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 12, 2018 at Heartland of West Ashley, Charleston, SC.

Born on October 8, 1923, in Eutawville, SC, Grace Dantlzer Bowen was the youngest of four siblings of Elvin Herbert Dantzler and Eva Shingler Dantzler. She was a Christian homemaker and Sunday School Teacher, two jobs she cherished and was totally devoted to. She was a long-time member of Ashley River Baptist Church and she volunteered for many years at Roper Hospital. She loved her family dearly, both her blood family and her church family.

Even towards the end, when she struggled remembering names, she easily remembered many Bible passages which she enjoyed people reading to her and she loved listening to Christian songs she so loved and had ingrained in her heart. She could be described quite accurately as a Christian Southern Lady who leaves behind a legacy of love for her Lord and Savior and a life dedicated to loving and helping other.

Grace Dantzler Bowen was preceded in death by her loving husband, James T. Bowen and her oldest daughter Virginia Platt, as well as her brothers Richard Dantzler from Great Falls, SC, Elvin Dantzler from Eutawville, SC and Med Dantzler from Rock Hill, SC.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Helen Bowen Buckley (Thomas) of Charleston, SC, her son, James Thomas Bowen, Jr. (Maria) of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren: Craig Platt, Shannon Richards, James T. Bowen, III, Rebekah Maher, David Bowen and by eight great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Platt, David Platt, Makanah Platt, Melissa Richards, Shawn Richards, James T Bowen, IV, Ella Bowen, and Emma Bowen and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Grace Dantzler Bowen will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy., at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Rd. The family will receive friends in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
