Hulda Franklin "Frankie" Pond Emerson, 96, of Charleston, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, at her residence. She was born April 6, 1920 in Toronto, Canada, to the late William Adam Pond and the late Hulda Marchand Nash Pond. On June 1, 1943, she graduated from the University of Maine and married Frank Levi Emerson that same day. She became a naturalized US citizen in 1956.
A devoted wife and mother, Frankie is survived by her son Frank William Emerson and daughter-in-law Patricia Melle Emerson of New York, NY and son Barry Alan Emerson and daughter-in-law Donna Looms Emerson of Charleston, SC; as well as a niece Kimberly Pond of Melbourne, FL. She was predeceased by her husband and her brother William Ormond Pond.
Frankie was a lifelong music lover whose tastes ranged from tunes of the golden age of Broadway to American standards of the 1930s through the 1960s. Her enthusiasm provided her friends and family with many happy hours spent in her company.
Funeral arrangements will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bishop Gadsden Employee Appreciation Fund, One Bishop Gadsden Way, Charleston, SC 29412 or a charity of your choice.
