Isabel Pickett Thompson, 93, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, formerly of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, and wife of Clyde Smith Thompson, Jr., entered into eternal rest Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 1, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.

Isabel was born July 25, 1924 in Bennettsville, South Carolina, daughter of the late Otis Moncure Pickett and Isabel Mahony Pickett. She was a homemaker and former member of First United Methodist Church, Isle of Palms, South Carolina. For the past 26 years she has been a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge. She grew up on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, and after high school attended Winthrop College and The College of Charleston. She worked for her brother, Dr. Otis Pickett, for several years on Sullivan's Island and in Mt. Pleasant.

Isabel and Clyde were married on December 17, 1949, shortly after he graduated from The Citadel. After their marriage, they left Charleston, but returned every year to their home. They adored each other and theirs was a marriage made in heaven. They were an example to us all of a perfect love and were so proud of the family they brought into this life. She was a blessing to everyone who knew her and left us all with endless cherished memories.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Clyde Smith Thompson, Jr., of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two daughters, Nancy Thompson Willis (Chris) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Pamela Thompson Quigley (Jeff) of New Hope, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Ashley W. Holleron (Jason), Kimberly W. Freeman (Kevin), Hope Allyson Willis, Eric Thompson Quigley, and Caroline Isabel Quigley; six great-grandchildren, Sydney, Maddox, Case, Cannon, Asher, Hayes and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son Clyde Smith Thompson, III.

Memorials may be made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana or to a favorite charity.
