J. Gary Coffman, age 73, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, February 5th. His parents, Arlie Wilbur and Mary Coffman, preceded him in death. Gary attended The Ohio State University, served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his service, he graduated from Capital University Law School, and practiced law in Columbus, Ohio until his retirement. Gary and Diane loved to travel, boat on Lake Erie, and spend time with family and friends. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, as well as at Mt. Zion Elementary School on John's Island.
