Jacqueline Anne Edwards Costas Palmer was born to Thelma Ward Edwards and Albert Edwards in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 21, 1933, and died on July 20, 2017, at the age of 84. Jackie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, teacher and friend. She loved Jesus and rested in the assurance that she would have eternal life with Him when he called her home. She loved and enjoyed her family and friends more than anything else on earth and was happy to serve and support them in any way she could. She loved singing in the choir and teaching some of her grandchildren to play the piano. She loved Bluebonnets, Texas, working with Mary Kay cosmetics, Precious Moments figurines, sports, picnics, fireworks and going to the beach. Jackie enjoyed just going!

Jackie was raised in South Carolina and graduated from St. Andrews High School in Charleston in 1951. She graduated from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC, in 1955. She married William Thomas Costas in 1956, had 4 children and was a USAF wife for 30 years. In 1996, she left Texas for home (Charleston) to marry William David Palmer, Jr., her husband and best friend.

Jackie leaves behind Bill Palmer, her precious husband for the past 21 years, her four children: Cathey Anne Costas (Jan), William Thomas Costas, Jr. (Linnea), Hellen Jeane Shewmake (Jimmy), and Paul Edwin Costas (Anna), as well as her grandchildren; Wayne, Kayla, Gayle, Abbey, Anni, Rossi and Athena and her three great-grandchildren: Josiah, Augustine and Calvin. Jackie also leaves behind her dear step-children: Anne Palmer, Becky Edwards (Jim), Cindy Taks (Sean), David Palmer (Shannon), as well as Debbie, Morgan, Katie, Jay, Taylor Rae, Will, Christopher, and Alexandria. Jackie also leaves one sister-in-law, Hellen Langford and Mark Langford of Wilmington, NC, and her two sons, Dan Langford, and Mark Langford (Sydney).

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 23, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service to celebrate and Praise God for her new life in Heaven will be held Monday, July 24, 2017 in Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Highway at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to express with grateful hearts their thanks to all who loved Jackie, including those at Ashley River Baptist Church, her neighbors, friends, and caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 4975 LaCross Road, Suite 200 North Charleston, SC 29406-6531.
