Janie Koger Thomas, 97, of James Island, SC, entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 10, 2020.

Janie was born September 8, 1923, in Edisto Island, South Carolina, daughter of the late James William Koger and the late Lillie Davis Koger. She was retired from the Charleston County Auditor's Office, where she worked for 30 years. She was a charter member of Bethany United Methodist Church in James Island and very much enjoyed her Sunday School class and her ladies' circle meetings. An active member of the Riverland Terrace Garden Club, Janie loved working in her yard. Well into her eighties, she raked leaves, pulled weeds, and tended to beautiful flowers and shrubs.

Janie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her late husband, Fred C. Thomas, Jr. She is survived by her three sons: Fred C. Thomas, III (Kaye), of Georgetown, William Robert Thomas (Chris), of St. Mary's, Georgia, and Gerald K. Thomas (Janice) of Mt. Pleasant. She had 8 grandchildren: Stuart Thomas, Kimberly Thomas, Elizabeth LaPha, Will Thomas, Kristen Smith, Jennifer Hoffman, Allison Thomas, and Brett Thomas. She had 9 great-grandchildren.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a private, family memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 19, in J. Henry Stuhr Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. Social distancing and masks will be required. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Palms in Mt. Pleasant, where she lived for 8 years, and Crescent Hospice for their care of our dear mother.
