Dr. Kathryn Anne Richardson Jones, 54, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Dr. Wesley M. Jones, Jr., entered the presence of God Wednesday, April 5, 2017. The family will receive family and friends Friday, April 7, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Her Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 in First Baptist Church of Charleston, 48 Meeting Street at 4:00 pm.
Kathryn was born March 20, 1963 in Portsmouth, Virginia, daughter of the late Dr. Charles Robert Richardson and Shirley Ann Gulledge Richardson. Dr. Jones held four degrees from Georgia Southern University to include a B.S. in Science Education, a Master's of Science in Education, an EDS in Science Education and an EDD in Curriculum and Instruction. She served as a college professor at the Citadel in the Zucker Family School of Education. Kathryn was a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dr. Wesley M. Jones, Jr.; two daughters, Allyson Marie Jones, and Whitney Kathryn Jones all of Charleston, SC; three sons, CPT Robert Wesley Jones, 1LT James Albert Jones both of Ft. Bragg, NC, and John Thomas Jones of Charleston, SC; three sisters, Teresa Louise Sonne, P.E. of Houston, TX, Linda Gail Weber of Atlanta, GA, Carol Elaine Carson, DVM of Simpsonville, SC, and many extended family members.
