Kenneth J. Kirchner, born June 26, 1950 in Conway, South Carolina, passed away February 11, 2021 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Kenny leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Beth Brown Kirchner, and devoted son Kelly "Will" Kirchner (Sydney). He was the oldest of eight siblings, Frances "Sissy" Seyle (Ron), Donna Melvin (John), Ruthy NeSmith (Jim), John Kirchner, Donald Kirchner (Gina), and William "Pat" Kirchner (Lisa). He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly Kenneth Kirchner and Mary Martha Cavanaugh Kirchner, and his sister Cinda Seyle (Gary).

Kenny served in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of the College of Charleston. He spent most of his career as a pilot boat captain with Charleston Branch Pilot's Association.

Kenny loved fishing, surfing, mountain biking, and being outdoors. He was part of the pioneering group of surfers in the Charleston area and was one of the fishermen instrumental in introducing saltwater fly fishing to the Lowcountry. Kenny loved being on or by the water. Kenny was blessed to have many friends and was beloved for his enthusiasm for life. He was a caring husband, a proud father, a loyal brother, an encouraging uncle, and a wonderful friend to many, always ready to lend a helping hand, fix a problem, or serve some of his famous fish tacos.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to East Cooper Community Outreach (https://eccocharleston.org/) or South Carolina ETV (https://www.etvendowment.org/). Due to COVID, visitation is family-only, and a celebration of life will be held in the spring.
