Lenora Tanner Kirkland, 89, of Charleston, SC, widow of the late Cecil M. Kirkland, Sr., went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 3, 2021. Her Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 18, 2021 in Holy Trinity Windermere Anglican Church, 95 Folly Road at 4:00 pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 3:00 pm. Please wear a mask and observe social distancing. A private graveside service will be held. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Lenora was born March 10, 1932 in Marion, SC, the daughter of the late Trudeth Huggins Tanner. She impacted many young lives through her time teaching kindergarten. Lenora worked alongside her husband in many ministries, including Bible studies in their home and the Kairos Prison Ministries. She loved Jesus Christ, her family and friends, flowers, and birds.
She is survived by her son, Stephen (Pam) Kirkland; her brother, Francis M. (Billie) Tanner, Jr.; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Besides her beloved husband of 57 years, she was predeceased by a son, Cecil "Kirky" M. Kirkland, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Windermere Anglican Church, 95 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29407.
