“My deepest sympathy to all of Lucy´s family. She was such a sweet lady and always had a smile on her face. Loved doing her hair. ”

Lucy Novellino Trask, age 95, of Charleston, SC, went home to be with the Lord January 16, 2021. She had been living at Wellmore on Daniel Island. Lucy was born on December 22, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York City to Olga Marie and Rocco James Novellino. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, George K. Trask to whom she was married 62 years before his death in 2005.

Growing up in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, Lucy had five siblings. She attended Girls Commercial High School in the Prospect Heights section of New York City; aspiring to become a fashion designer. While attending school, Lucy worked in a factory sewing parachutes in support of American troops fighting in World War II.

Lucy met her future husband George (a US Merchant Marine) at a roller rink in Brooklyn and they soon eloped to be married in his home state of Indiana. After four years they returned to New York City to live with Lucy's parents, first in Brooklyn, then Queens, and finally Williston Park, Long Island. She enjoyed her role as a house wife and mother to their three daughters. For many years, Lucy, George, and the girls enjoyed life together in their home with Lucy's parents, and Lucy's younger sister, Dolores Ann Novellino; and in later years with Lucy's other sister, Jenny Ferri.

George served in the NYC School system and rose in ranks to serve as Custodial Engineer in larger and larger schools. For many years, Lucy served as secretary in George's offices. Their final school was Lehman High School-one of the largest schools in the City. In 2002, George and Lucy moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC with several of their family members.

Lucy leaves behind three daughters: Lucy Dyckman (Edward), Georgeanna Murphy (Kevin), and Tina Tole. She also has four grandchildren: Kate, Michael, Erin, and Meggan Murphy; as well as three great grandchildren, Skye, Bree, and Lexi Wilkens. Lucy is further survived by two sisters: Josephine Hennin (NY) and Dolores Novellino (SC). Additional survivors include numerous nieces and nephews; and particularly, Lucy Ann Burfeind (Robert) who lives nearby in Charleston, SC.

Lucy's family has foregone a memorial service at the J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Chapel and Crematory due to covid-19 restrictions. Interment will be at Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY with her beloved husband George. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
