Mary Cecelia Thompson Hilson, widow of William C. (Billy) Hilson, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. She was a retired BellSouth Telephone Company employee of 33 years. She was born August 5, 1935 at her grandparents' home in Midway, SC to Martha Eunice Brady Thompson and Middleton Mishoe Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Alfred Brady Thompson, sisters Margaret Thompson Kelly Towles, and Berta Ruth Thompson Crosby.

She was a graduate of St. Andrews High School. She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church since it was organized in 1944, where she was a very active member and served as Church Historian from 1989 until 2013. She was a dedicated Worker in her church and began singing in the choir at an early age. She also was a Sunday School Teacher, a youth adviser, Circle chairman, Hobby Group member, and Worship Committee member.

Among her many talents were her embroidery skills. One of the items she enjoyed embroidering were pillowcase dolls, which she gave as gifts to many family members and donated to the Church Bazaars. All who knew her remember her enthusiasm when playing basketball and softball in high school and in the Church leagues. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team and enjoyed watching other sports. She had a zest for life and liked to laugh and have fun.She had many life-long friends that she kept in touch with but we would especially like to thank Onalee Avinger for always bringing the Kid's Club over to share smiles with her and Betty Gosnell, Becky Mitchell and Nickie Westcoat for being such special and loving friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Ashley River Plantation for taking such good care of Mary over the past several years and for the special angels at Amedisys Hospice for making her last days peaceful and comfortable.

She is survived by eight nieces and four nephews, many great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. She was loved by so many and will be truly missed.
