Mary Gilbert Hiott , 72, of North Charleston, South Carolina, wife of John R. Hiott, Sr., entered into eternal rest Monday, April 24, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 1, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Mary was born April 15, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Florence Gilbert. She retired from Southern Division Naval Facilities Engineering Command, SOUTHDIV. Mary was a member of The Gamecock Club for 39 years.

She is survived by her husband, John R. Hiott, Sr., of North Charleston, SC; daughter, Connie Shiver of North Charleston, SC; son, John R. Hiott, Jr., (Shelia) of Summerville, SC; three grandchildren, Derek Shiver, Melanie Shiver, Travis Hiott; sisters-in-law, Linda Hiott Racioppa (Ralph) of Huger, SC, and Betty Gilbert of Philadelphia, PA; five grandchildren by marriage, Ricky L. Brazeal, Ashley Brazeal, Matthew Matney, Daniel Matney, Christopher Lupyak; five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a sister, Gloria Hosker, and brother Dan Gilbert, Sr.
