Merrile Aruth Martin Kinard, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 7, 2022. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 in the Pinecrest Baptist Church, 1285 Ashley Hall Road at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel.

Merrile was born January 26, 1929, daughter of the late Lee Melvin Martin Sr. and Jessie Mae Judy Martin.

She worked in Charleston at Legerton's Books and Office Supplies in the greeting card department, The School of Nursing of The Medical College of South Carolina (now MUSC), and in the Alumni Office at The Citadel. She also worked at Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, NC.

Merrile was a charter member of Pinecrest Baptist Church.

She is survived by her brother, Lee M. Martin, Jr. (JoAnn) of Virginia Beach, VA; son, Raymond David (Missi) Kinard of Charleston, SC; daughter, Karen Annette Kinard of Tallahassee, FL; grandson, Dalton Beasley Kinard of Charleston, SC; many loving nieces and nephews; and so many wonderful family and dear friends we wish we could list by name. She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Ray Benjamin Kinard; and grandson, Tyler David Kinard.

Our family extends a very special thank you to long-time friend, Monika Bedard, who faithfully helped care for Mom these last four years, filling each day with love and attention. Mom loved her so very much. Even near the end, her presence brought a smile to Mom's face and gave her peace.

Memorial donations may be made in Merrile's honor to Pinecrest Baptist Church, 1285 Ashley Hall Road, Charleston, SC 29407.
