Miner William (Billy) Crosby III, 63, of North Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 25, 2017. His funeral service will be held Thursday, March 30, 2017 in First Baptist Church of North Charleston, 4217 Rivers Avenue at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at the church from 10:30 am until the time of the service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.
Billy was born June 22, 1953 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Miner William Crosby, Jr. and the late Josie Rogers Crosby. He was the family accountant and was retired from Crosby's Garage. Although Billy was diagnosed with Becker Strain of Muscular Dystrophy, he never lost his optimism and his incredible attitude of perseverance. Never losing faith and never complaining, Billy was an inspiration to all who came in contact with him. An extremely loyal friend and family member, Billy was the first to come to the defense of his family or those he loved. He loved animals, especially his little buddy, Lily. Inspired by space and air travel, Billy kept his curiosity in the clouds and his eyes on his computer. Everything Billy tried he perfected, whether it was building his first computer, wood working, photography or finding ways to make his own disability easier.
He is survived by his sister, Deborah Crosby Summey (Keith) of North Charleston, SC; niece, Annie Summey of North Charleston, SC and her children, Rhett and Lizzie Fuller; nephew, J. Elliott Summey (Allison) of Mount Pleasant, SC and their children, Jackson and Harrison Summey; special uncle, Representative Bill "Beanie" Crosby (Jean) of North Charleston, SC, numerous cousins and longtime friend, Deputy Chief Coyle Kinard. We wish to extend a special thank you to Kim Ford for her special care. A special thank you also to her nurses, Suzanne, Pam and Carolyn. The family wishes to thank Allcare Living Services, Kelly Williams.
Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 222 S. Riverside Plaza, Suite 1500, Chicago, Illinois 60606. Billy would be proud.
