Susan Whittier Vinson, 66, of York, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 24, 2022. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in the Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 12:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Susan was born August 2, 1955 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Theodore R. Whittier and Mary Wright Whittier. Susan always called Charleston home. She was not only known as a wonderful mother, but also a friend and teacher. She received her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Education from Winthrop University and a second Master's in Education from Converse College. She taught students for over 30 years and finished her career at Orange Grove Charter School.

To know Susan was to love her and she will be remembered for her joyous laugh, giving heart, love for music and most importantly love of the Lord. Susan was an active member at Ashley River Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School and VBS teacher, sang in the choir, and served as the BYW and WMU director.

She is survived by her son, Andrew Whittier Vinson; daughter, Ashley Vinson Lang and her husband Robert Stanley Lang Jr.; sister Nancy Whittier; grandchildren, Mary-Elex Lang and Robert Chapman Lang; one niece; and two nephews.
