Suzanne "SuSu" Hawkins Owens, 85, of James Island, widow of Thomas G. Owens, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 14, 2022 next to her loving family. Her memorial service will be private.
Suzanne was born in Charlotte, NC, the daughter of the late William Henry Hawkins, Jr. and Gladys Hendrix Hawkins. She was a graduate of Myers Park High School. Suzanne also lived in Columbia, Harbor Island and Orangeburg, South Carolina during her lifetime. After retiring from bookkeeping, she enjoyed her golden years with traveling, crafting, puzzles and playing cards with her friends. She loved volunteering at Charles Towne Landing, Roper Hospital and Habitat for Humanity. She was an avid gardener and loved visiting the beach. An animal lover, Suzanne always had a furry or feathered, friend by her side.
She is survived by her daughter, Leigh D. Ohlandt (Johnny) of Charleston, SC; sister, Nancy H. West (Thomas B.) of Wilmington, NC; three grandchildren: Cori Herring (Caleb Harkleroad), David Ohlandt (Melissa) and Julie Renkas (Brock); four great-grandchildren; nephew, T. Bradford West, Jr. (Lynn); niece, Susan E. May-West (Elizabeth); two great-grandanimals; and her loyal cat, Ellis.
Suzanne was preceded in death by two daughters, Kyle D. Winkler and Stewart W. Able.
