Sylvia June Barrineau, 92, of Huger, South Carolina, wife of the late Leroy E. Barrineau entered into eternal rest Tuesday, January 18, 2022 on Edisto Island surrounded by loved ones. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 at J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road. The family will receive friends an hour before the service.

June was born February 8, 1929 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, daughter of the late Frank Woodruff Sanders and the late Elizabeth Boinay Sanders. As one of nine siblings she was overjoyed to have a large family of her own, and a home she loved in French Quarter Creek in Huger, SC. June had so many interests, from dancing the shag, cooking for the firemen in Cainhoy, fishing, sewing with her quilting club and hosting at the Buck Hall Campground. In her later years she thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the dock drinking wine with her daughter, family and friends. She volunteered in several capacities, not only with US Forestry Service for 18 years, but also 10 years for the South Tibwin Plantation for Handicap Hunt.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia "Patty" Hayes (James) of Edisto Island, and Sylvia Ann Hiott (Dennis) of Huger; two sons, Leroy "Roy" Elmore Barrineau, Jr.(Lela) of Walterboro, and Robert Lee Barrineau of North Charleston; special son Robin Austin (Cindy) of North Charleston;10 grandchildren, James Hayes (Molly), Lauren Hass (Bobby), Sharon Hiott, Lisa Barrineau, Michelle Moyer (Mike), Melissa Barrineau, Mary Jarrell (Chris) Angela Paulson, Chris Barrineau, Shannon Johnson (Anthony); 24 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. June had a very special relationship with her Sister-In-Law Jennie Sanders, her Nephews Hank Balliet and Doug Staas. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Bobby Hiott and Anthony Barrineau, and two great grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Roper Hospice and Jackie Green, who provided exceptional care for June.
