In the early morning of Saturday, February 20, 2021, William "Billy" Ernest Hilton, Jr., went to be with the Lord.
A son of the late William E. Hilton Sr. and Rosalie Griffin Hilton, Billy was raised on Johns Island, SC. Billy, PaPa, Opa, Pops, Uncle Billy, Sweet William, lived his last thirty years with his wife of fifty-four years, Betty Ann Hartley Hilton, in West Ashley.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his son, Richard "Richie" Hilton, and his wife Ansley, and their children, Riley, Sam, Cecelia "Sissy", and Emma Grace, all of Fort Mill, SC; his son Samuel "Stacy" Hilton, and his wife Kimberly, and their children, Nicolas, Annie, Louis, Kyle, and Lexi, all of Myrtle Beach, SC; his sister, Ann McIlwain, still resides in the family home on Johns Island.
He was surely greeted at the gates of Heaven by his son William Michael "Mike" Hilton, along with his brothers Tommy Tucker and Alfred Tucker, and his sister Tina Peeples.
Billy was loved by many nieces and nephews and known for his quick wit and sometimes impatience. He loved fried shrimp and steamed oysters and he made the BEST fried chicken and potato salad. Billy sang tenor at First Baptist Church of Johns Island for years, retired from Estes, and enjoyed volunteering at Roper Hospital. He loved his grandchildren and grand-dogs and often dog-sat while we all played. He liked to sit in the garage, drink sweet tea, watch football, and get the top of his head rubbed. Billy was loved and will be greatly missed, especially his hearty, belly laugh.
The family plans to have a drop in to celebrate Billy on Saturday, March 6, 2021, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm, at the Hilton residence in West Ashley.
Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Johns Island, 3483 Maybank Hwy, Johns Island, SC 29455.
